Asparagus Beetle Overwintering

February 2021. MSU found that beetles primarily overwinter within asparagus fields. Beetles overwintering in deciduous leaves or decaying asparagus stalks survive at higher rates. Management recommendations include chopping asparagus stalks up early in the fall and where there are a lot of deciduous trees, removing the leaf piles.
