Controlling Powell Amaranth

March 2022. Dr. Sushila Chaudhari’s 2021 research showed that a fall application of indaziflam provided excellent control of Powell amaranth and redroot pigweed. It did, however, cause significant reduction in the rye cover crop stand. Spring application timings early preemergence caused no negative impact on asparagus growth and yield. Indaziflam (Alion) is not yet registered for use on asparagus.
