Michigan Asparagus

Grown by Michigan farmers, sold fresh in food stores and farm stands throughout the Midwest.

Our Farmers

We have nearly 150 families throughout Michigan producing roughly 20 million pounds of Michigan Asaparagus annually to be distributed throughout the United States. Oceana County, known as the “asparagus capital of the world,” is also home to the National Asparagus Festival, which includes a parade and crowning of the Asparagus Queen.

Asparagus

Michigan Asparagus has a buttery, sweet, and earthy flavor with a hint of bitterness. It’s mild flavor pairs well with many dishes and cuisines. The Michigan Asparagus season begins in early May and ends in mid-to-late June.

About Us

The Michigan Asparagus Advisory Board’s mission is to improve the economic position of Michigan asparagus producers by supporting research and creating greater marketing opportunities. Among other ways, we accomplish this by supporting R&D for production practices, asparagus varieties, and marketing campaigns
