February 2024. The fungus, Stemphylium vesicarium, causes purple spot disease of asparagus spears and fern. MSU research found three very effective products to control purple spot – Quadris, Merivon and Miravis Prime. Currently only Quadis is labeled for use on asparagus. Work is underway to get the other two products labeled for use on asparagus.
