MSU Nitrogen Recommendations

2004. For new plantings — MSU recommends in the spring before setting the crowns, to broadcast and incorporate 50 pounds of N per acre. For established plantings — MSU recommends that annual nitrogen applications are best split between pre- and postharvest. The total amount should not exceed 80 pounds per acre.
